BF: two hard boiled eggs (12g protein, 180 cal)

S: yogurt cup with granola and honey roasted almonds (20g protein, 400 cal)

L: tuna salad with pine nuts, olives, chickpeas, tofu (30g protein, 500 cal)

S: honey roasted almonds (6g protein, 200 cal)

PW: 4EverFit Orange Protein Shake (22g protein, 150 cal)

D: bak kut teh and a couple sticks of satay (20g protein, 400 cal)

Protein-wise, it’s an awesome day. Caloric-wise, it is the devil’s armpit. It is commonly said that not all calories are made equal so we’ll see. I should not have had that yogurt. Blasted 11am hunger pangs! (more…)

Every dieter’s nightmare is made up of these four words. Diet is the wrong word to use but, stay with me here. We scrimp on the last drop of salad dressing so we can stick to our diets. Complex carbs if any at all, healthy nuts for snacks, olive oil in moderation, lots of protein, yet all these rules come crumbling down when faced with a delicious, inviting, delectable slice of cake.

Why is that? The question is as old as time, much akin to why women love bags and shoes? Why question it at all, really? The best way to cope is to build a caloric deficit for those on a diet, and enjoy that sliver of happiness as it was created.

For my aunt’s 50th birthday, I decided to bake her a strawberry shortcake. A simple sponge cake, with heavy cream whipped to perfection interlaced with succulent strawberries. Nothing short of an mmmm. I’ll apologise for two things – showing you this delicious cake, and for
