The Spam.

The spam that has to be deleted every week is insane. I HAD to install captcha to make sure that the spammers have a harder time. I hope it works. What the hell. No one loves spam, unless it's pan fried to the crisp, paired with toast and drizzled with a generous serving of mayonaise.

 

D for the Deed Is Done!

Needing the desperate push back into my exercise routine after two months (or more, actually) of unhealthy seasonal eating and the lack of any mobility save for raising a wine glass (or two, or three, actually four on average) to my mouth, I did the unthink-able. Well, the unthinkable for me that is. I considered signing up for the OSIM Triathlon 2010 (Mini). Motivated by the desire to be alive, I decided to try the segments individually to see how I’d fare.

200m swim, 10k cycle and 2k run in its exact sequence is what I’d have to pull off.

The first few days of January saw the beginning of my Couch to 5K running programme, a week into it, I averaged 25mins for 3km which is not great but it’s not horrible either. The swimming segment of 200m took less than 10mins in the pool. I might end up swimming breast stroke to keep the feet out of my face, we’ll see. The cycling route I have yet to attempt, it’d be this weekend. Given the two decent timings in swimming and running, I decided to leap into signing up.

There is no business like show business right? At worst, I’ll have to fake it till I actually make it. My target is to complete under 50 mins which I am well aware is INSANE for a first timer like me. To break it down, I have 8mins for the swim route which is first, 24mins for the cycling and 18 mins for the run. You best believe that I’m going to make it!

 

Food Journal

Eating plans differ from person to person. Some people cannot tolerant the absence of carbohydrates (usually refined simple carbs i.e: bread, noodles), they get jittery, cranky and the run of the mill batty. Others like me excel on a low carbohydrate, high protein meal plan. If I do take carbs, they are in the form of complex carbohydrates (vegetables, brown rice, sweet potato). Admittedly, the latter few are rare and only occur if i have to. Otherwise, it's literally meat and vegetables. The meal plan is for my entire lifetime, sure I will allow myself the occasional bread stick or two but I suspect that I am yeast intolerant and by virtue carb intolerant. I monitor my moods, energy level when I do take them and they begin with promise, I have a burst of energy and then, it falters fairly quickly leaving me tired.

I have more energy on a high protein diet, I feel less bloated (for a girl, there is no better motivation than not having the after dinner paunch). I suggest trying the various meal plans (I am hesitant in calling it a diet because, it should be permanent change in the way that you eat)

Fitness Journal

Back with my old program, I did not have much results with the change in program though it is certainly no fault of EJ. I just need to be babysat, I work out better when I do not have to think about my reps and sets. I simply just function. If I bargain with myself, I win all four sets. When I bargain with E, he lets me win the first set which lulls me into a false sense of comfort, and then proceeds to throw the whammy at me for the next three sets.

Nutritionally, I had the worst week last weekend so I honestly do not think I can eat worse. If anything, it motivates me to be better. I almost skipped gym tonight because I had the most intense craving for Japanese. I bargained with myself again "Of course, you can skip, just run tomorrow, not a problem at all" I stopped my thoughts in my tracks, packed up and rushed to gym. Worked out and honestly I have NEVER regretted a work out. It just takes abit for me to get there.

I have to stop bargaining with myself.

The best and the worst.

Fitness wise, I have had the best week – swim training twice, regular gym twice. The worst week in a very long time, nutritionally – apart from the regular drinking debauchery, I am gone utter berzerk on desserts both indian and western. Literally, thousands of calories in desserts. And last night, I decided I was so famished, I needed a bowl of instant noodles. No more rubbish, I can never outtrain a bad diet so this week, it is just one single glass of alcohol. That’s all I am allowing myself. No wine with dinner, no after work beer. The insanity has to stop. I have been trying to get back on the backwagon for the last two months. It HAS to happen today. Now.

Run, yo. Run.

Three years ago when I was at my wits end, I had signed up for a shiny new gym membership at popular downtown gym. As part of the rehauling package, I purchased the Nike+ as inspiration to begin running. Almost two years later, I have run less than five measly times before boredom took rein. The downtown gym membership is now used for its showering facilities and has about 5 out of the original 36 months left. I must say, it’s a pretty expensive shower option. (more…)

Otherwise known as the bloat.

Tis the season, or that time of the month rather. Actually, it is the time before the time of the month. Still with me, here? Well, in months past I have not noticed a weight gain during the monthly woes, more often than not they registered as a non loss as opposed to a weight gain because, I was actively working out. A couple days ago, I realised that my tummy was sticking out further than I care for, and truthfully I wondered if I had started to re-gain the weight back.

NOT ACCEPTABLE!

After weighing myself today, I realised that I have put on 2.5kg. I had carbs over the weekend so a bulk of it has to be a carb weight gain and at the same time, it is almost time so, it registered as a bigger "gain" than usual. My heart broke into little pieces, literally. I cannot imagine gaining weight, I HAVE to find a way to cut the BS and just do it. I worked out on Monday last week and I forgot to stretch which TOTALLY messed with my recovery. My calves are still hurtin’ Imagine that. How do you spell "WUSS"?

two months without gym = weak sauce

I went back to the gym today for the first time in two months. I did 2/3 of the sets that I would usually do at lighter weights, same reps. ^$%!^*^$# ^$%!@^*^$1# *^$%!!^*^$# mother freakin’ chugger.

A1: DB Split Squat (5kg DB with 3010 count) – 10/10/10(BW)

A2: Chin Up (improvised to incline chin up) – 10/10/10

B1: BB Romanian Deadlift (35kg BB with 3010 count) – 10/10/10
