Optimum Nutrition Variety Pack Review

4 Jun

A woman’s delicate palate is sorely lacking in the world of protein powder reviews. With great anticipation, I look forward to this review. The review will be rated according to texture, taste and mixability. As I am lactose intolerant, the powders will be mixed with iced water. My kind adoring public will be updated as the tasting happens.

Blender Bottle

4 Jun

Being a complete newbie to the protein powder scene, I went in search of a shaker cup on Nutrifirst. Expectedly, the choices were practical (read: U-G-L-Y) and geared towards the male of the species. Steering clear of cups that yell out "Shut Up And Train!" (Yes, they do exist. Much to my horror!!!), I found one in a shade of sunshine.

Forking out $13 for a plastic shaker does seem quite extreme. Even for me.

The postman delivered the BlenderBottle® along with my Optimum Nutrition 16 flavour variety pack. What a clever invention! The shaker that is, not the postal service.

The BlenderBottle® is essentially a shaker cup with a wire whisk ball (thereafter known as BlenderBall®). Not unlike a kitchen whisk, it takes care of the annoying lumps that plague the run of the mill shaker cup. Bah, peasants!

Aesthetics: 9.5/10 (the cup I have does not screw flush to the cup, it stops short by a fair bit. a personal preference)

Price: $$ out of $$$ (Not the cheapest product in the market but, the rest do not compare!)

Functionality: 9/10 (does the touted job perfectly though I wish it came it a handbag friendly size)

Optimum Nutrition Variety Pack Purchase

1 Jun

In bid to maximise my weight loss, I’ll be doing a protein shake after my work outs. Made an online order for Optimum Nutrition Variety Packs which seem like the leading brand in the supplements market. As I searched online for reviews that would help me decide, I found a women’s point of view sorely lacking. The meatheads muscleheads give a minimum of 5/10 for what I presume tastes like licking a Ilama’s butt.

FIVE out of ten! For a protein shake to get 5 with me, it had to be at least drinkable. Not helpful at all.

Found an local online supplement store – Nutrifirst, that sold the ON 16 flavour variety pack for a decent price  – $40. It should arrive tomorrow evening. My first ever product review. For the next month, I will review a new flavour on each of my training days (x 3 a week) The review will be based on texture, taste (oh so important!) and, mixability.

Wish me luck!
