Optimum Nutrition Variety Pack Purchase

1 Jun

In bid to maximise my weight loss, I’ll be doing a protein shake after my work outs. Made an online order for Optimum Nutrition Variety Packs which seem like the leading brand in the supplements market. As I searched online for reviews that would help me decide, I found a women’s point of view sorely lacking. The meatheads muscleheads give a minimum of 5/10 for what I presume tastes like licking a Ilama’s butt.

FIVE out of ten! For a protein shake to get 5 with me, it had to be at least drinkable. Not helpful at all.

Found an local online supplement store – Nutrifirst, that sold the ON 16 flavour variety pack for a decent price  – $40. It should arrive tomorrow evening. My first ever product review. For the next month, I will review a new flavour on each of my training days (x 3 a week) The review will be based on texture, taste (oh so important!) and, mixability.

Wish me luck!

Hahaha, llama’s but .. hahaha. Have you tasted protein shake before? If not, keep your expectations low. I gagged the first time I drank mine. But after a few tries (putting it in the fridge and making sure it’s very cold helps to to make it more ‘drinkable’). Muscleheads will always tell you it taste great but i think we women have a different .. uh, palate :P

So far, I kinda like my protein shake – I look forward to it after my 1 hour of training – it taste like cold Milo after a workout except Milo taste way better. Haha, you need to kinda psych yourself up.

I’m taking Myoplex Carb Control – 25gm protein, net carbs of 3g. This has the most Protein out of the Myoplex range. Not sure about other brands. GNC sells pre-packed drinks in a carton of 4 which you can pop in the fridge and drink. Not cheap though – $8.50 for 1 (20% with GNC Card). I’ve resorted to ordering the ‘powdered’ version online – that is cheaper ;)

    Have fun!

I’m lactose intolerant so, I bought a soy protein powder a couple months back. It wasn’t great but, for results I’d drink it. Needless to say, I am praying that this ON batch might prove better.

Myoplex is like the LV of protein powders! :P Or so I’ve heard. Gee, now I’m worried! Stay tuned for the reviews!
